6. The Royal Heritage of Serbia
Thread in the footsteps of Serbian royalty and visit the unique heritage of the Karađorđević dynasty. Named after Djordje Petrovic, the first to be called 'Karadjordje's (i.e. Black George), the dynasty's name honors the man who led the first Serbian uprising against the Turks in 1804. First visit Topola, a former military base of Karadjordje. Next, head to Oplenac hill that holds the royal family mausoleum, with an interior covered by 40 million mosaic pieces! Round off the day with a visit to the home of King Petar I, then toast like royalty in the Royal cellar.
