In the pass between Mosor and Kozjak mountains, overlooking Split, stands the mighty fortress of Klis. Perched high on sheer rock, it offers the perfect vantage point to admire panoramas of the city, with views extending as far as Vis Island on sunny days. The fort is a remarkable sample of medieval defense architecture and boasts a history that traces 2000 years back in time. It was the stronghold for many who came through the region, from Illyrians, and Romans, to several Croatian kings. And most recently, Daenerys Targaryen.
